
Dr. Valerie Henderson, PhD is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Agency Director with over twenty years of experience in the behavioral and mental health field. She is deeply committed to providing high-quality, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care while leading organizations that promote wellness, equity, and community impact.
Throughout her career, Dr. Henderson has demonstrated a strong dedication to ethical practice and the advancement of behavioral health services across diverse populations. Her leadership reflects a thoughtful balance of clinical expertise, organizational vision, and advocacy for accessible, compassionate care.
As a mother of four, Dr. Henderson brings a grounded and empathetic perspective to both her clinical work and her leadership, valuing the importance of holistic well-being for individuals, families, and communities. Her work continues to be guided by integrity, collaboration, and a passion for improving mental health outcomes.

Dr. Miller "Don" Knight is a licensed professional counselor and clinical mental health counselor with over two decades of experience in behavioral health. He currently serves as a Mental Health Professional with Day One Mental Health Services and Steaming Ahead With Health Interventions. Dr. Knight earned his Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and completed his PhD in Psychology at Northcentral University. His professional journey began in 2003 as the Adult Mental Health Team Leader with Daymark Recovery, setting the stage for a career marked by service, leadership, and clinical excellence. In 2016, Dr. Knight joined Marine Corps Community Services in Okinawa, Japan, where he served for four years as a Marine Corps Community Counselor, providing dedicated mental health support to service members and their families. In 2020, he assumed the role of Behavioral Health Director and Therapist at Community Health Systems. There, he successfully expanded behavioral health services, overseeing the development of a 10,000-square-foot
facility and the onboarding of eight new therapists. Since, he has provided services and a therapist for Kathleen Cox & Associates. Dr. Knight brings a wealth of clinical expertise and administrative insight to his current role, grounded in a deep commitment to improving access to quality mental health.

Jevohn Sisney serves as a Service Facilitator at Day One Mental Health Services in Monona, WI. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. Jevohn is currently pursuing his LCSW licensure, with the long-term goal of opening his own private practice. His work is rooted in a client-centered, trauma-informed approach, reflecting his dedication to delivering compassionate and individualized care. Outside of his professional life, Jevohn enjoys staying active at the gym, shopping, and planning his next travel adventure.

Nina Miller is a Service Facilitator at Day One Mental Health Services. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Wyoming.
Following graduation, Nina worked in Eastern Washington at a rural nonprofit community action agency, where she supported underserved populations by connecting individuals to vital resources and helping develop innovative social service programs. She brings experience working with individuals living with chronic medical and mental health conditions, substance use needs, and survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Nina is deeply committed to providing person-centered, individualized care. She believes in meeting clients where they are and supporting them as they work toward their personal goals and overall wellness.
Outside of work, Nina enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and their four children. She also values staying active at the gym and exploring life in the Midwest.

David serves as a skill developer who says his personal goal is ‘to use my gifts to help others understand and use their own unique talents to become as independent as possible and find meaning in life.’ David holds a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Edgewood College (2003) and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2012) During the last decade, David has worked with youth and adults who struggle with developmental, cognitive, and psychiatric disabilities to develop skills for life and work. In his free time David enjoys reading, nature, and dramatic arts.

Alyssa serves as an intern at Day One Mental Health, where she provides skills development and psychotherapy services with a focus on supporting individuals with disabilities. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Superior in 2023 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Following the completion of her master’s program, Alyssa plans to obtain her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential to continue her work as a mental health professional. Drawing from her lived experience, Alyssa approaches her work with deep empathy and a trauma-informed lens, emphasizing client strengths and individualized, person-centered support.
In her free time, Alyssa enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her two dogs, Hank and Oakley.

Jody is the Operations Manager and Client Rights Specialist at Day One Mental Health Services. Originally from Wisconsin, she graduated from Whitewater High School in 2006. Since then, she has dedicated her time to volunteering in various mental health and substance use settings by working with organizations such as NAMI Dane County, Shatterproof, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Jody has been in long term recovery for over a decade and is passionate about providing essential mental health and substance use resources to individuals within her network and advocating for those who lack access or the means to advocate for themselves within her community. Outside of work, Jody enjoys creating lasting memories with her spouse, Nadra and two dachshunds, Tucker and Queenie, as well as spending time with friends and family.
